Last week we celebrated Juan Pable Duarte Day! Even though the government moved the official holiday from Wednesday to Monday (just for the sake of having the holiday attached onto the weekend), students from schools all over Jarabacoa celebrated by participating in a parade.
Our wonderful eighth graders represented Anija.
The parade lead to the big Catholic Church in the middle of town. Every one went in for mass except Anija and a couple other Christian schools.
Instead, we waited in the park and took pictures.
After mass there were several speakers, which I understood nothing from.
Experiencing new cultural traditions and holidays in the DR is always interesting! If you'd like to read more about why the DR celebrates Juan Pable Duarte Day, use the link below.
